About Us

Cheyenne Shepherds is my kennel name. I own and operate a small breeding kennel in Central Florida. I purchased my first German Shepherd when I was 20 years old. I bought her from a reputable breeder (Bill Sinclair) who is still active in the breed. Since then, German Shepherds have always been a big part of my family! I have dedicated my life to breeding shepherds who are beautiful, sound temperaments and confirmation. It is my proud goal and commitment to the breed. My dear husband Jim is a big help in continuing to support me in my dream. As I do, he loves all of our shepherds and looks forward to new adventures with all of them!

Upon moving from Maryland where I grew up, to New Jersey, I attended my first German Shepherd specialty show. It was there, sitting at ringside that I developed a passion and excitement for the show ring. I joined Southern New Jersey German Shepherd Dog Club. I served on the board and was also, show chairman for one of their specialty dog shows. I also, took two years of handling classes. I am also a member of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America and I signed the breeder’s code of ethics.I am also a member of the Tampa Bay German Shepherd Dog Club.

Along the way I have been fortunate to meet people who have helped me. Bob Drescher has been a great mentor to me and shared a world of his expertise with me. We went on to co-own several dogs together and co-own a champion and Select Excellent Champion along with our dear friend Joan Segro.

After seven wonderful years living in New Jersey, my husband's job relocated us to south Florida it was there that I began working for a great veterinarian, Dr. Paul. He taught me a great deal about small animal practice and I loved every minute of the knowledge. Another move, this time to purchase more land so we could expand our love for the breed, we move to Central Florida. Sort of in the country! Love it… More space and my only neighbor is my daughter and her family.

I am proud to announce that Michelle Sherman, Kris Sherman and I currently own Kennelwood's Amazing Grace. We love our Gracie!

My grandson, Austin shares his love with the breed. He shows at some of the all-breeds shows in the shepherd specialties. He has several ribbons and first place wins, which enabled him to move up to open senior class. He has worked at a commercial boarding kennel and help me Welp litters, dog baths, nails, And get the dogs ready for the show ring. I have no doubt that our Austin will grow and succeed in the shepherd business because he loves anything to do with German Shepherd. He graduates he's going to attend college to become a veterinarian technician. His other goal is to become a professional handler in the near future.

I feel I have achieved my lifelong ambition of breeding quality German Shepherds who are both sound, physically and mentally. They are well socialized, confident, and have a high learning ability. They exceed all the characteristics that can make a champion. We put a lot of pride and consideration into our breeding program. I still get excited with each upcoming litter, waiting to see how many males and how many females!! Who might be the next superstar?

Additionally, I expect anyone who purchases a puppy from me to live up to a lifetime commitment. It takes patience, love, and understanding raising a puppy. Thank you for taking the time to find out more about Cheyenne Shepherds.

Sincerely,
